Honda Navi Review: Smart and Quirky

Honda has made many scooters and bikes for the Indian economy and most of them showcased attractive yet conventional design, but when the design department took a turn and decided to do something different, the Honda Navi was born. What makes the Navi so special is that it cannot be categorised as a scooter or a bike. Navi is just Navi and there is no need or reason to categorise it, as even engineers at Honda don't know what to call Navi. But, we can be sure that this creation is a variation from the usual design path, and, this different making really deserves appreciation mainly due to the sense of perspective it gives to the one who looks at it for the first time. The Navi is the first motorcycle look alike scooter that got launched in India, and from the looks of it, the Navi has the capacity to blur the difference between the bike and the scooter segments.

Honda Navi

Honda engineers have followed a different design aspect without altering or adding any new motor parts to make the Navi and this sole reason makes this vehicle more attractive. The 110cc engine of the Activa is retained in the Navi and the engine produces 7.83 bhp @ 7000 rpm and a formidable torque of 8.96 Nm @ 5500 rpm.

Honda Navi Black Side View

Honda engineers have provided an Under Bone Type chassis to the Navi. A Telescopic front suspension and a Spring Loaded Hydraulic Type rear suspension is provided to make the Navi stable at higher speeds and also on uneven terrains.

One of the most advantages of the Navi is that it can be customised into a variety of ways according to the needs and taste of the user. The Navi can be personalised as a city vehicle as well as an adventure tourer. It can also be used as a second vehicle that could be used for enjoying evenings with friends, occasional rides with loved ones, a small ride to a cafe or for casual shoppings and small rides around the city.

Honda Navi Custom

Honda is providing various custom parts to make the Navi attractive, this includes a box that can be fixed into the free space seen just below the tank. The box could be used for storing essentials and small items safely.

Honda has stripped down the overall weight of the Navi it is 8kg lighter than the Activa and weights only 101kg. The light weightiness of Navi enables to dash quickly on roads and on highways. The Navi could manage a top speed of 85km/hr and the engine provides enough torque and power at almost all rev ranges to give a vibration free ride. Various paint jobs are provided by Honda to make the Navi attractive and the paint jobs comes in; Patriot Red, Shasta White, Black, Hopper Green and Sparky Orange.
