Stylish TFT Meter Panel
Yamaha has provided a stylish yet sophisticated TFT display panel to this sports scooter. The multi-function instrumentation features a speedometer on the left and tachometer on the right - while the central display includes an odometer, two trip meters, current and average fuel consumption and outside temperature, as well as additional indicators for various functions including the TCS.
Yamaha has provided a safety system to the new TMAX to give maximum comfort and safety to the rider in all conditions. The TMAX comes with Dainese D-air safety system by Dainese.
The D-air system consists of a safety jacket and a device that communicate wirelessly with each other and if an impact is detected by the safety system, the D-air system inflates instantly to protect the rider from upper body injuries. The incorporation of the safety system makes the rider comfortable in all riding conditions.
Smart Key/Centre Stand Lock System
The TMAX's new keyless Smart Key system makes it easy to secure the scooter and gives more security and comfort to the rider.

Traction Control System (TCS)

Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T)
The TMAX showcase a Chip Controlled Throttle in its system. This technology is originally developed for Yamaha for its high-performance motorcycles. The TMAX's new Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) gives precise control with instant throttle response that enables the rider to engage in any riding style whether it's off-road or on-road.
A 32-bit ECU is embedded in this throttle control system that detects the throttle actions of the rider and adjusts the throttle valves to the ideal setting for stronger and sportier feeling performance.
The TMAX showcase a powerful 530cc engine capable of producing 45.3 bhp @ 6,750 rpm and 53.0 Nm of torque @ 5,250 rpm. This powerful 530cc, inline, 2-cylinder engine with YCC-T technology will deliver plenty of strong torque and power to shift away from traffic lights and junctions with much ease.
The new carbon fibre belt drive ensures smooth acceleration and reduced weight to use the maximum power produced by the engine. With the featured catalytic converter and new air cleaner box, the 2017 engine meets EU4 requirements and delivers much better power and torque without harming much to the environment.
Braking and Suspension
The TMAX benefits from the use of a link-type rear suspension system at the rear which features a horizontal shock absorber. This advanced new system in combination with the progressive linkage and the longer swingarm provides good feedback from the rear end.
The new system gives a heightened feeling of drive force during acceleration and its type upside down forks and link-type rear suspension provide the ultimate ride in all terrains.
Colour and Availability
The Yamaha TMAX is available in Midnight Black only. The TMAX is currently not available in India as the indian market is only getting used to powerful commuters. Even though India is a popular market for scooter and commuters, the market is not mature enough to hold a powerful 500 cc scooter like the TMAX. But, with the ever increasing popularity of scooter segments in India and the possible arrival of scooters like the powerful Aprilia, Vespa and the likes, there is a chance Yamaha will introduce this powerful urban commuter in the future.
