For every Vespa RED brought in India, Piaggio will give away funds that go directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, directly in India. The main focus of this fundraising programme is to give away services and care to HIV infected women and to ensure that their babies are born HIV-free. To make the fundraising programme wider, Piaggio and RED also combine to sell Vespa RED products like T-Shirts, Mugs, Rear Leather Bags, Canvas Tote and Helmets to customers.
Design for a Cause
The Vespa RED comes with a full red paint scheme with stylish red saddle and a chrome plated pillion grab. The new Vespa clearly bears the iconic beauty and aesthetics of Vespa for centuries and enhances the product RED with much clarity and veracity. The history and heritage of the Vespa are carved out carefully by the new design.
Unlike the SXl, the VXL model has a round shaped headlamp that complements the entire fascia of the scooter. The front apron gets a small curved and chrome plated grill shaped design complemented with the Vespa logo engraved just below the headlamp. Piaggio has given chrome stylized mirrors on either side of the scooter.
A very refined and powerful 125cc 4-stroke engine powers the Vespa RED. The 125cc engine produces a maximum power of 10.06ps @ 7500 rpm and a very healthy torque of 10.06 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The same 12cc engine can be seen in the Vespa VXL 125 and Piaggio adopts the engine to make use of it in the Vespa RED.
The 125cc engine is made Italian and is very refined and ensures good power and torque figures without compromising much on mileage. The engine felts very robust and gives formidable power to satisfy all commuting needs with much ease.
Chassis, Suspension and Braking
The Vespa RED comes with a steel body construction and makes use of a Hydraulic double-telescopic fork as it front suspension and a Hydraulic Shock absorber as its rear suspension. The suspension setup of this scooter is made to make city commuting and occasional highway rides pleasurable and enjoyable. The comfortable and wide seat also makes riding the scooter a very enjoyable affair. The Red seat is made exclusively for the Vespa RED and it makes a bold design statement that truly holds the new age design concept of Vespas over its years.
The Vespa RED gets 220mm disc brakes with twin-piston callipers, while the back braking consists of a conventional drum braking system.
The Vespa RED comes with exclusive red coloured alloy wheels to make it unique and stylish. The inclusion of the Tubeless tyres as stock at the front and rear side also makes this scooter very purposeful.
Piaggio has made a decent scooter out of the Vespa RED and it came out really well with the Red colour paint scheme, comfortable seat, chrome stylized mirrors and pillion grab rail. The well refined and economical 125cc engine is also a plus point of the Vespa RED. The Italian making and aesthetics combined with the pure and purposeful nature of each RED product contributing a handful of an amount to prevent and cure AIDS will also make the Vespa RED a very compelling scooter to own in recent times.
