Yamaha NMAX 125: A Stylish Urban Commuter

NMax is an urban commuter from Yamaha. The NMAX showcase an attractive front faring along with aerodynamic looks and is specifically designed for increased riding comfort and outstanding economy. The compact body of the NMAX gives the rider and pillion smooth riding comfort and agility needed to dash through curvy roads, hefty traffic and in congested streets with much ease.

Design
The NMAX showcase dynamic looks and sporty design which reflect the aesthetics of modern urban life and sits among one of the most stylish and premium class scooters in the 125 cc segment.


Yamaha has redefined the entry-level urban commuter category with the dynamic design and premium quality finish of this urban commuter. The aerodynamic body, distinctive boomerang motifs, twin-eye headlight and sharp looking front fender brings a bold and fashionable look and feel to the NMAX.

Stylish LED Head Lights
A twin-eye LED headlight with a dynamic front fairing makes the NMAX take a sporty stance and aggressive styling.



It also features a new design where the twin-eye LED headlight turns on low beam, while a third central light comes on in high beam mode. At the rear, there's a stylish LED stoplight and LED taillight.



Lightweight Frame with Good Storage
NMAX is equipped with an immensely strong and lightweight tubular frame that's designed to deliver a sporty ride and stable handling with easy manoeuvrability. It features a twin shock suspension system at the rear and very smooth-action telescopic forks at the front, the high-specification chassis combined with the suspension settings ensure a comfortable and stable riding across cities and highways.



The compact NMAX will fit into the tightest parking area - and yet while being small on the outside, you'll find the interior surprisingly spacious - with generous rider leg room and plenty of space for the rider. The stepped dual seat is designed to ensure high levels of comfort. The big spacious storage compartment can hold a full-face helmet and other essentials very easily.



Engine
The new 125cc engine liquid-cooled engine showcased by the NMAX have a specially designed EU4-compliant engine delivers sporty performance with low fuel consumption and reduced emissions. Yamaha's efficiency-boosting 'Blue Core' design approach is used which ultimately reduces power losses and increase efficiency, the compact 125cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine achieves 12 bhp @ 7,500 rpm and a healthy 11.7 Nm torque @ 7,250 rpm. The engine uses Fuel Injection technology with a V-Belt Automatic transmission system. The outstanding performance and efficiency of the engine provide comfort in all riding conditions.



A Variable valve actuation for powerful acceleration is provided as a key feature in the NMAX making it a sporty performer in cities as well as in highways. The 4-valve cylinder head uses a specific camshaft that enables the engine to operate more efficiently at low and high engine speeds, giving stronger acceleration in all rev ranges, together with good fuel economy.



Braking and Suspension
The ABS technology is used as a standard fitted with 230mm disc brakes for this commuter, and NMAX is the first scooter in its class to come with ABS as a standard fitment. The aggressive styling, sporty look and distinct aerodynamics make this commuter a premium entry-level model ideal for new riders as well as more experienced commuters. With 230mm disc brakes on both front and rear wheels, this lightweight urban commuter offers confidence and better riding control.



The lightweight 13-inch wheels with wide tyres and a lightweight cast alloy 13-inch wheels reinforce the NMAX's stylish looks and underline its sporty styling and premium statement on roads. A wide section 110/70-13 front tyre and a chunky 130/70-17 tyre at the rear provides comfortable riding across all terrains. The stability and riding comfort provided by this NMAX is commendable.

Colour and Availability
The Yamaha NMAX 125 is available in four shades; Matt Grey, Anodized Red, Midnight Black and Milky White. The Yamaha NMAX 125 is currently not available in India. Yamaha is yet to say about the official launch of NMAX 125 in India. But, with the ever increasing popularity of scooter segments in India and the arrival of scooters like the Honda Cliq, there is a chance for Yamaha to introduce this stylish urban commuter to the India market. We can hope that Yamaha will think of showcasing the NMAX 125 at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.
