Karnataka To Impose Restriction on Pillion Riding in 100cc Scooters and Bikes

Lately, Karnataka state government has proposed a statement regarding the pillion riders on 100cc motorcycle. The authority is about to enforce this new law upon every new purchase. The new law is to ensure maximum safety for the riders and thereby reducing a maximum number of road accidents in the state. Moreover, buyers will not be allowed to customize their bikes or add an extra seat on their ride.

However, it will be a menace for the manufacturers as they have to redesign the entire range of 100cc models with a single seat. The decision has resulted in plenty of protests from the people as well as from the automotive industry. As more than 25% of the two-wheelers fall below in the 100cc category with the likes of scooters and commuters. In the current scenario, the Police force often blames the two-wheeler rider for accidents even though it may due to the lack of proper infrastructure. If authorities continue to introduce newer norms for separate states, it will be a major headache for the makers to survive in India.
